Judiciary versus Politics

When Supreme Court had given a verdict to the ruling government in Kerala that Bandh is illegal, me – one of the common man felt its going to change this time atleast. No more stranded people, burnt buses etc… But you know what, our politicians are so crooked that they would declare a Harthal and then issue a statement (warning) that Milk, News papers are exempted from Harthal. Well, thanks a lot goons, but people just need to live a normal life, not a shower in milk! If you think “Ok, so its just a Harthal” – you got it all wrong. Harthal is just a synonym for Bandh in Kerala… a beautiful example of how two different words can be so subjective that it carries the same meaning J

So Jayalalitha approached the SC court to have Karunanidhi’s bandh called off… thanks a lot Madam, we all know how concerned you are for the common man… by the way, was it your idea or Sasikala’s?. For those who don’t know these people Jaya is an actor turned opposition leader for the State of Tamil Nadu – which pretty much sounds like a small country inside India itself. Karunanidhi, the current chief minister of Tamil Nadu also has some movie background (sorry we don’t really mind the educational qualifications of our politicians, they just need to have some acting background… coz that’s what we expect from our leader – ACT). Sasikala is just a playmate (oopps did I say playmate) for Jayalalitha – you are not supposed to think more on that line…

I often felt Tamil Nadu is ruled by an individual than a party. In a way it’s good (we have so many leaders in Kerala with as many number of parties that I often get confused who is who) and in a way its bad too. Because when ruling becomes an individual stuff it just implements dictatorship – Yes the same name US used to address with Saddam, till they hunted him down and killed him. Now Iraqi’s use the same word to address Mr. Bush I believe. Well you should’ve thought a bit more before you betrayed your leader J

Often these demi gods goes to an extend where they end up challenge the judiciary system itself. Let it be Karunanidhi or Achuthanandan, they both are pretty good at it. Their skin must be as hard as rock that they still stick on to the power even after receiving so many beatings from the court.

Good to realize there is something which dares to challenge these mongooses … and that’s why I still believe in our judiciary. May be we can make it even better if we can get rid of those loop holes in our laws… a blog on that soon follows
